Bullet the Blue Sky...

Ultimately, we spend little time contemplating how little control we have over our images, and the extent to which we are at the mercy of factors completely beyond our grasp!

For instance, a dull gray or cloudless blue sky can take something away from the most dramatic/interesting landscapes...

...whereas a lively sky can transform even the most non-specific picture!

  1. Nice nice, which brings up another point, not only the impact of the sky, but the time of the day that is 'best' suited to photography, which is always a debate. Some of these seem to represent different times of day, which makes them more interesting to compare.

  2. Good point. Actually, save for the one which is clearly at twilight, the rest are all mid-day (one is a late afternoon pic). Sky conditions and lighting are related, but distinct I think. For e.g. sunset pictures with a plain sky aren't quite as interesting as those with clouds - and therefore more contrasts.
